Week 1
Get the basics in orderTurn on 2FA now — you'll need it before Twitch lets you finish onboarding. Pick a niche category where you can actually show up in the top 20. Schedule two streams and tell people when they're happening.
Twitch changed the Affiliate bar in June 2025 and most guides haven't caught up. Here's what the platform actually measures today, a realistic timeline to hit it, and the spots where a small boost makes the most difference.
June 2025 Affiliate reset
Followers: 50 → 25. Stream days: 7 → 4. Hours: ~8.3 → 4. Viewers: rolling 30-day average → 3+ concurrent on 4 qualifying streams. Partner later moved to a six-stream / 75-viewer achievement model. Figures below match Twitch Help as of early 2026.
Jump to the part that matches your channel — the requirements, blockers, and tools are different at each stage.
Focus on schedule, category choice, and your first 25 followers. Monetization toggles may already be available in your region before Affiliate.
Try 10 free followersYou need four achievements in one 30-day window. The viewer gate on four separate streams is usually the slowest — not follower count.
Pace live viewersSix qualifying streams per month at 75+ average viewers, twice in a row. Raids count; account standing must be clean.

Myth
You need 50 followers to unlock Affiliate.
Reality
Twitch lowered the follower gate to 25 in June 2025. Older guides still cite 50 — ignore them when planning your timeline.
Myth
One dead stream tanks your entire viewer average.
Reality
Under the current rules, only streams where you average 3+ concurrent viewers count. Weak sessions no longer drag down a rolling 30-day average.
Myth
Affiliate is the only way to earn from subs and Bits.
Reality
Twitch has been opening up Bits, subs, and Channel Points to more creators before Affiliate in some regions. But the actual revenue split and payout rails are still locked behind Affiliate. Think of it as a preview, not a replacement.
Myth
Partner requires Affiliate first.
Reality
Twitch does not block Partner applications from non-Affiliates, though completing Path to Partner gives you priority review and a faster response window.
Myth
More total views automatically means you qualify.
Reality
Affiliate tracks average concurrent viewers — people watching at the same time — not cumulative views or unique visitors.
Myth
You submit an application the moment you hit the numbers.
Reality
Affiliate is invite-only. Twitch emails you after all four achievements show complete; allow 24–72 hours after the last bar fills.
Based on 2–3 streams per week with some promotion. Stream less and it stretches out — but you can't compress it past 30 days since that's Twitch's measurement window.

Stack your qualifying streamsYou need four separate calendar days where you average 3+ viewers. Run two more streams this week. Promote the start time in Discord, Reddit, or wherever your audience hangs out — returning viewers are easier than cold traffic.
Clear the viewer gateIf organic traffic is thin on your qualifying sessions, this is where paced live viewers help most. Pair it with a clip from your best moment — post the hook, not the full stream.
Wait for the invite, then set up payoutsCheck Creator Dashboard → Achievements. Once all four bars fill, the invite lands within 24–72 hours. Complete tax info and payout setup before you do anything else — it takes longer than you'd expect.
Affiliate is about showing up with a small crowd on a consistent schedule. Partner is about filling a room — six streams in 30 days, each averaging 75+ concurrent viewers, then doing it again the following month. Raid viewers count toward those averages, which matters more than most people realise.
Once both months clear, a 30-day application window opens. Creators who hit the achievement through Path to Partner typically hear back within about a week. Standard applications without it can wait several weeks.
In some regions, Twitch now lets all streamers turn on Bits, subs, emotes, and Channel Points without being an Affiliate. It's a meaningful change — you can start building a monetised channel from stream one.
Affiliate still matters though. It unlocks the standard revenue split, the payout infrastructure, 14-day VOD storage (non-Affiliates get 7), and the standing Partner reviewers look for. Open monetisation is the taste test. Affiliate is where the actual business account kicks in.
The old system averaged every stream you ran in 30 days. One dead night dragged everyone else down. Now Twitch only asks whether four of your streams crossed 3 average concurrent viewers — the rest don't count against you.
That means you can plan your four qualifying sessions deliberately: pick a tighter category, send a Discord ping before you go live, or run paced live viewers on exactly those sessions. You're not hoping every stream lifts the average — you're picking your four best shots.

Track bars in Creator Dashboard → Achievements. They refresh after each stream ends — not in real time during the broadcast.
Yes, no application needed. When all four achievements complete inside the same 30-day window, Twitch sends you an email and a notification in your dashboard. The invite usually arrives within 24–72 hours. Make sure 2FA is already on — you'll need it before you can finish onboarding.
